I can't tell if you're joking or not? It looks seriously unprofessional and nothing like a uromastyx? Plus the writing is hand done and not... pretty....

Erm.
- First off, it's not hand-written - it's a font ("Akbar") which came rolled up with Photoshop. I wanted something approachable, although yes, I confess that I don't like it that much, so I won't be saddened to see it go. It was the best fit for the image.
- Secondly, no, the image doesn't look like an uromastyx, mostly because it's not a photograph (I played with a number but couldn't come up with anything I liked) - I do appreciate that it doesn't have a spiky tail, which is what makes an uromastyx an uromastyx.
- Thirdly, "unprofessional"? Do you assume I'm a professional? I guess your delicate sensibilities should be glad I didn't whip up something simple using only the paintbrush in MS Paint :-)
- Fourth, design and aesthetics are very individual things. This is something I whipped up in a few moments because I didn't want to stick with the generic MediaWiki logo. However, talk is cheap - it may very well be that you can create something better than I ever could, but first you need to show me something. Perhaps we should have a logo contest.
As an additional note, I'm not angry with you, so don't take offence to this message - I'm a fairly easygoing chap and I welcome outside input. But too many times in the past people criticise without offering anything in return, so I'm curious to see what you come up with. Oh, and mind the positioning and aspect ratio - the current graphic actually only takes the bottom two thirds of the graphic space, which goes to the top of the screen.
