When uromastyx went from 13 species to 16 the new species where recently described as U. alfredschmidti (Wilms and Böhme, 2001); U. flavifasciata and U. occidentalis (Mateo et al., 1998); U. leptieni (Wilms and Böhme, 2000).

Geographical disperion

U. leptieni come from Oman, United Arab Emirates.
